Ahh the Hummer -- by far the most macho vehicle on the face of the planet. Previously designed to transport US soldiers during the war, the Hummer has indeed become more sophisticated both in looks and performance. The new 2008 Hummer H2 is considered to be the benefactor of the biggest facelift in the model's rich history. Exterior-wise, the 2008 H2 seems to be have a striking resemblance from models that came before it. Most notable of the exterior changes are the silver painted bumpers which were previously black. To ensure more air flow to the spanking new 6.2 liter, 393 HP engine, the seven grille slots have been widened, and the Hummer letters have been moved to the mini-grille just below.

On the inside, H2's overall appearance is sleeker, smooter and less cluttered than its predecessors. The seats are more comfortable and the addition of another jump seat in the back makes a full third row.

The new Hummer also boasts of a new generation navigation system that is much smoother and faster than earlier models.

A 6-speed automatic with steering wheel paddles for manual operation is the only transmission. Maximum towing capacity is 8000 lb, up from 6500 lb. H2s have all-wheel drive with low-range gearing for off-road use. Severe off-road equipment is available. Safety features include ABS, traction control, antiskid system, and curtain side airbags. Also standard are OnStar assistance and leather upholstery with heated 1st- and 2nd-row seats.
